Walrus Launches Seal to Revolutionize Web3 Data Access Control

Web3 data platform Walrus has unveiled Seal, a decentralized secrets management service now live on mainnet. The breakthrough solution combines threshold encryption with programmable access controls—enabling granular permissions for data stored on Walrus' decentralized storage network.

Seal addresses critical limitations in current Web3 storage paradigms, where data remains public by default and access management often proves rudimentary. The technology unlocks novel use cases including permissioned NFTs, decentralized document workflows, and confidential AI model training.

"This isn't just incremental improvement—it's architectural reinvention," said Walrus Foundation's Rebecca Simmonds. The launch marks the first instance of native access control integration within decentralized storage infrastructure, according to developer Mysten Labs.
